Players
A player is a device that is responsible for sending content to a screen. In a way, even an Apple TV or a Roku are a kind of player , they are devices that are responsible for sending content to a screen. Sometimes, especially when it comes to designing a Digital Signage solution, what we want is to have the same content that is played over and over again with information that can range from advertising to the time, the weather, or the values of a company. Since it is very limited content that is going to be played continuously, a Digital Signage player is generally a small processor, the size of a hand or smaller, that can have the content to be played preloaded. The player can also point to content that is extracted from a cloud, or from a remote database.
An ambitious Digital Signage system for a corporation with a national presence, for example, can be made up of screens and players that are linked to a network from wherever they are, in order to design, control and launch their content from a central point, such as their headquarters. A player allows a screen to be divided into sections, so that, for example, one part of the screen shows the exchange rate, another section shows the weather, and another section displays advertising content.
